Backsliding - A Preacher's Daughter's Podcast
This might be one of the most important conversations I’ve ever had. Thank you Sarah for being so honest and open.
I’m back after a couple of weeks off with a special episode featuring my friend Sarah Smith. Sarah is the host over at the Theosophia podcast. In part one Sarah teaches me the importance of Sophia and we talk about different ways to describe and think about God. Enjoy!
Today I’m sharing the second part of my conversation with Mary Sullivan-Trent. Grace is something that’s really difficult to grasp but I think Mary has a really good grasp on what grace looks like for us. Thank you Mary for reminding us all that “Grace makes room for the Janky!”
I had the pleasure of talking with the “Reluctant Pastor”, Mary Sullivan-Trent about grace. Mary talks about her story, why grace is important and what grace actually looks like. Be on the look out for part 2 next week!
This week we talk about the separation of church and state. Is it even possible or should we just keep politics away from the pulpit? Taylor Mertins and I talk through what all of this looks like. I’m thankful Taylor took the time to talk with me and that he didn’t shy away from the hard questions. Enjoy!
What is toxic masculinity? How does it effect men who don’t fall into that specific definition of what a man is? How does it affect how churches are ran? And why the heck would a former pastor who finds himself out of the faith care?
This week I’m sharing my conversation with Greg Horton. It’s good to hear from someone who finds themselves “out of the building” but still cares enough to peek through the window to check to make sure everyone’s okay.
I’ve been really lucky to be supported by some amazing fellow podcasters. They’ve been helpful and answered all my questions and have constantly encouraged me along the way. This week I’m sharing my conversation with one of those people!
This week my friend Tripp Fuller over at Homebrewed Christianity are celebrating 10 years this week! I hope you enjoy!
It’s so easy to get in over your head when thinking critically through scripture and theology, and sometimes it’s easy to lose your own voice in it. Today I share my conversation with Teer Hardy where we talk about just that. Listen as we go from the need to think critically, using your pastor as a resource, being vulnerable and listening to those you don’t always agree with. I’m thankful for Teer and the time he gave to chat with me!
It’s not very often that I get the chance to sit down and swap stories with other pastors kids, but when I do it’s always funny and enlightening. I got to talk to Abby and Beth about the things we weren’t allowed to do growing up, the ways the double standards of being the child of a pastor shaped how we are as adults, and what our hopes are for pastors now.
I hope that anyone who listens to this will realize families in ministry are just people too. We have questions, doubts, opinions and make mistakes just like anyone else.
Contrary to how some of us act, the Bible wasn’t written yesterday. Today I’m sharing my conversation with Marty Duren. We talk about why context matters, how we should filter things, and even taking breaks from news and media. Marty’s communication style is unique and captivating. Make sure you go listen to his podcast, The Fourth Estate!
